attoo – A New Trend of Contemporary Fashion

A tattoo is usually an ineradicable or permanent mark designed beneath the layer of skin by a method of piercing and inserting deep-seated pigment of ink which is impossible to remove without surgery. Sometimes, it can be graceful designs prepared on the skin with a short-term or temporary dye like henna. The earliest printed reference to the word, “tattoo” emerged in the journal of Joseph Banks (1743 –1820), one of the naturalists aboard the ship of Captain Cook- a European explorer. He mentioned how the indigenous people in the far pacific islands mark themselves indelibly on their body skins. Then the word “tattoo” was popularized in Europe when the explorer James Cook returned in 1771 from his first voyage to Tahiti and New Zealand. In the narration of his voyages, he also mentioned the word “tattaw” describing the acts of painting or staining on the skin which were performed as a custom by native tribal people he had seen in his time of exploration.
